Getting Around | The Insiders Guide to Nassau, Bahamas

Taxi, Ground transfers, Bahamas app

Now that you have booked your hotel, got your travel health visa, and purchased your ticket. You already have a list of some of the places that you wish to visit and the things you want to do while in the Bahamas. But have you given any thought to, how to move around while here? There are Horse & Carriage, Water Taxi, Buses on Routes, Limo Services, Taxi Services, walking, Private Charter, and ride apps like Let’s Go Bahamas. Everyone has it’s area and offers a different experience that can be photogenic and memorable.

How about we look at it from the time you have confirmed your travel dates and purchase your flight ticket. You are arriving in two days and you are staying on Paradise Island. For your ground transport to the hotel, you have the three options: Limo services, taxi or Let’s Go Bahamas pre-schedule bookings. Limo Services and taxi services are available on your arrival at the exit of the airport. Taxi range from $35.00 to $45.00 based on luggage and there is a bridge toll and limo services are similar from  $60.00 to $85.00. With both services,  qualified public service drivers provide the service but it’s a call-up service (The next in line). You don’t have a choice of car and no way of knowing your driver’s service level or who he is. Let Go-Bahamas app affords you the option of booking up to 5 days before you arrive via our app or via our site. In the app, you can choose the type of service that best suits your taste and lifestyle. You can choose a taxi, Business Class, or V.I.P. Black service and be quoted a price based on your destination. No need to be negotiating, argue, be surprised at the end of your ride, or worse. Our rates are standard and can be view in our app. The final price can be adjusted for the bridge toll, luggage, and any special request you may have from your assigned driver (he will inform you before the charge).  Another plus is that through the app you will be informed between one hour and 30 minutes before your pickup time of your driver’s name, photo likeness, how far he is from your location, and even when he has arrived. This is a great stress relief for many as you through the app can call your driver.

Now you are at your hotel ready to start your vacation with reservations at one of our fine local restaurants and need a ride to get there. Once again you are faced with the same options along with the same dilemmas. In this, it is always my recommendation to use our app and not have to be tied to a particular driver but still maintain the level of service that you like.

On your first day and you may wish to leave Paradise Island for downtown Nassau. For this trip, a short walk could give you the option of a water taxi. These boats can take up to 20 minutes before they leave but offer some photo opportunities. For just a small fee of $5.00 (subject to change), you can be dropped off in the heart of downtown Nassau. The entire ride is less than 15 minutes but the views of the cruise ships in port, waterways, and colorful shops is a tour in itself.

While downtown you can walk to your choice of stores, restaurants, bars, perfume shops, souvenir stores, jewelry stores, and the like. While there you can also choose to do a horse and buggy ride that offers a historical tour of the rich history of downtown Nassau. This will set you back between $20.00 to $40.00 and usually last 15 to 30 minutes.

From downtown, you can make your way to the world-famous Arawak Cay that is just west of downtown. You can take a beautiful walk for 25 to 40 minutes base on how fast you walk or catch a #10 bus. The bus ride is the most frequently used by locals as it is the most economical and goes by just about every 15 minutes. However, while this is only a $2.00 on average the level of exposure is substantially greater. On the bus, Arawak Cay is only 10 minutes away but you may need to sit for the bus to be filled before departing. The #10 and #12B routes are very popular with tourists because they run along Cable beach where many of the large hotels are.

Finally, it is not difficult to navigate around our little island but it is recommended to have a local guide with you. We still recommend the use of the app as it also has a built-in GPS map that can be a reference for historic information, directions, conversation, and always a ride back to your hotel. You will never be lost with the app and always have someone to call. We look forward to seeing you soon. For more information contact us
